Vision: The alleviation of the suffering of people who are traumatized by severe
and acute
life circumstances. The empowerment of people to soar and
give light, compassion, and love to the world utilizing what
has been
learned
from their
own experiences.Mission: To serve those who suffer disasters, tragedies and losses
locally and
globally and to uplift people to the awareness that each one has the
power to give to their communities and the world.
1.To engage in charity and education by medical assistance and organizing
volunteer teams for relief of the poor, for victims of natural and man-made disasters
(i.e. refugees, orphaned children of AIDS, victims of violence).
2. For assistance of those who suffer dis-ease (physical and mental) and chemical
dependency prevalent in the marginalized and the
incarcerated.
3. To promote improved living conditions for those suffering from lack
of basic needs
like food, housing, and most especially, water.
PGHF aims to accomplish the mission through the following efforts:
1. Fundraising for projects such as clean, safe, and
healthy water for the world,
while collaborating and partnering with other organizations who have similar goals.
2. Providing opportunities for volunteerism to directly affect the
betterment
of the quality of life of those who are suffering such as doing needs
assessments and direct disaster relief work.
3. Community empowerment projects utilizing a positive strengths-based
approach with value formation in uplifting people through their talents,
creativity, and their human potential to give, teach, and share what they
have learned with others. PGHF
believes that this is a key to community
development and sustainability.
4. Support and help mobilize the formation of autonomous LIGHT teams
(Local and International Global Humanitarian Team)
throughout the
United States and internationally. The LIGHT Teams are "spark plug" teams
and are groups of 4-6 humanitarian volunteers per team
who uplift and put
to action and uplift the ideals of PGHF. Each team can
choose to champion
and work on PGHF projects mindful of the PGHF values of
serving others
with love and compassion.
5. Raising awareness for different local and global needs through various
educational events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibits,
media, and books.
PGHF believes that each person can make a difference, no matter how small
or
large a job may be. Each person has the power to give.
"A small group of thoughtful committed citizens could change the world.
Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. "
